I was trying to get rock deformation in the form of a head, so I made a mask to project onto rock. Applied it to a sphere instead, and Easter Head was born. Just a quick render (5 min. at 0.5 and AA3), don't even know if I'll pursue this, but I thought to share it anyway.

Haha... now that's cool.

Reminds me of a Sepultura-Cover somehow :)

Very funny! Both images are an easy fit! ;D
I did something similar using a model I made in Blender. I like your version much better. 8)
The Easter heads are taller, this makes me think of Korea or Vietnam but I can't place the reference that is making me thing that.
Nice job by the way.

That's very cool, a very good liking. I just painted something in PS, a facial heightfield, so to say.
I was going to say Olmec.... Inky beat me to it.
The simplicity of Dune's answer made me chuckle. ;D
