Title: sunlight and water issue
Post by: duff on February 18, 2007, 06:06:05 AM
I couldn't see a thread which mentions an issue with sunlight reflecting on water which appears to be comming through the terrain (but isn't) although I have seen other threads related  I don't any raise this problem...
The following image was made from the full render node in the attached tgd and although ray traced shadows are enabled and the sunlight is not shining through the terrain it's effect on the water is as if it was. See image below:

If Ray-traced shadows is on (in the Atmosphere Quality tab) then it would seem to be a bug. The reflection system is due for a lot of work coming up so this will be looked at and addressed.

P.S. There is no need for "Ray traced shadows" to be on in the cloud layer! This will only slow things down and only has an effect when shadows are being cast *onto* clouds from terrain (which is to say very rarely).

Cheers for the response.

I look forward to speedier renders without ray traced shadows on the clouds.
