Title: World Machine masks (was TER dimensions)
Post by: bigben on February 21, 2007, 06:52:38 PM
For the 1 or 2 people who read my post on TER dimensions.... I was wrong!!!

The problem was actually with my image masks.

For everyone else. The problem I had was that I was using a flow map generated from World Machine as a mask to distribute trees, in particular keeping them off ridge lines. Alas my partial render started showing that the gap in the trees was actually next to the ridge line.

When mathematical filters are run over images there is often a small offset of the filtered result which I should have considered before shooting my mouth off. An offset of 1 pixel (40m for the TER I'm working on)may be significant enough to cause the problem I was having. I'll post some images and a final fix once I work out the amount and direction of the offset.

Lower left of image map at -40 -40 (1 pixel)

Now that i have both images.... closer but not quite right... back to the drawing board.

PS. I like the wind effect on the water surface in TG2.

More later.
