I think this is not what you want , but maybe it is useful for others:

I don't know what kind of tutorial this is...You have to try yourself  :)
You have to register to receive the onyx movie download. It is old and maybe don't work anymore.

But don't share any models you make with OnyxTree, because you'll get sued. Apparently Onyx owns whatever you make with their software. I think you'd be better off with xFrog (for all plants) or PlantStudio (low-poly models of small plants).

Still a strange idea; like a painter being sued by the paint manufacturer for using their paint to produce artwork.

no, thats still different, because Onyx is a special set of parameters and with Onyxtree you always get a tree which follows this set of parameters. Its not like a painter who has complete freedom to do what he wants.
Xfrog is also different, because you have a way more flexible approach. Probably not as much as when doing box or point-by-point modeling, but still more free comapred to Onyx.

Still I am not sure if Onyx would win at a european court, as what they do is a "grey area".

I see, thanks Walli, for explaining. I don't know Onyx, actually.

I have only seen it at a friend, but I must say that I really like what it produces, when you consider the time you need to "build" the plant. But as I usually need more flexibility, Xfrog and sometimes Treesdesigner are my weapons of choice.
