Hi, Maybe someone can help me out with this.
I'm trying to make the terrain for the area around Dover castle in the U.K.
I have not been able to find a DEM file and I'm sure it wouldn't have enough resolution anyway.
I do have a 1:25,000 Landranger map with contour lines.
At the moment my plan is scan the map and to trace out the lines in Bonzai3d, it has a really usefull terrain generator tool. You trace out the cruves and then it does a lofting operation between the curves.

Does any one know a better way or digital format that has the contour lines built in.
maybe an ESRI shape file?  and where woudl I find one for that area of the UK?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi, Thanks, that page didn't help per se but it did lead me to this page

http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/opendata/

I clicked on Supply and scrolled down and found
Land-Form Panorama
Data type: Vector (Contours), Grid (DTM)
Supply format: DXF [Contours],
ASCII grid [DTM],
NTF [DTM]

Some more info on it.

That might be what I'm looking for. I'll let you know once I have it downlaoded.
thanks,
Michael
