T2 Free not running on vista 64 ultimate..

Is there a "Terragen_2.ucr" folder inside your terragen install? And if so, is there 2 folders, Generic and Windows inside that? and inside Generic is there a default.xml file?

As thats the next process it spits out about, where it loads the xml for the default scene and loads it, right after the parts you've shown us yours gives.

also with my thing i gave you, replace the "C:\" with "G:\" as you seem to have it installed to G, not C.

i had the same, similar, problem.  go to: C:\Program Files\Planetside Software\Terragen 2 Free Edition and create a shortcut to the tg2.exe program.  it works fine.  the installation doesn't seem to create a new desktop icon.  best to all, and thanks for all of the hard work to get here.

anything else i should do??

im noticing now that when i reboot windows it seems to work.. but if i exit and tr to reload TG2, it wont playball. i make sure that th TG2.exe is not running in task manager but could there be something else thats left behind that caould cause it not to load properly... memory leak?

and also noticing if i run tgcli before tgd.exe it runs most of the time... tho as befor not always..

I'm running T2 with no issues in Vista Ultimate x64, I have a pretty basic install no major modifications done to the OS other than having UAC and DEP disabled.

you might want to try having an exclusion rule for DEP since it's caused me nothing but grief with various applications.

ie got UAC off already, but forgot to get rid of DEP, will let you know how it goes...
