This is a pretty cool wee gadget... Not great resolution, though.

Ahhh, I didn't realise Google Earth had a weather layer now, it's clearly better than this ^^. I must update...

This might make creating planetary cloud maps easier, and more believable. Can just the clouds be 'grabbed'?

I think yes, but only in Google Earth, not here(this just uses GE data as one of its inputs). I don't know, Njeneb, I haven't updated my version of GE yet.

I downloaded the cloud image. The other looks interesting, but I am pretty sure Terragen 2 is much more powerful. I am also leary of the Cygwin compiler. It's been a long time since I have used it. When I did, the compile was only working well on the machine it compiled on. This is more likely something I did. C is not my favorite language. I like assembler.

@ FrankB: The code was simple to do. I could write right to the hardware, making everything superfast.

I did a Blender render using these 'grabbed' clouds. Well, enough said. They do make nice layered marble textures. ???
