I think this has some possibilities however, it needs some work.

I used Strata and Outcrops, Twist and Shear and Heightfield Erod. Also, Fractal Shaders.

I welcome any suggestions to increase the realism.

I am flying solo on this, not using tutorials or other created terrain files, to see what I can come up with.

I included the file which you will find very elementary.

Thanks.

I would create a node group of small to very small PF displacements. Blend these with a single color power fractal as a mask. This would be linked into the main nodes just before the strata and twist shaders.

This would add some breakup and detail to the outcrops (weathering). They look sort of Goraud shaded now.

"Realism" is a slippery term - do you have a real world terrain that you're trying to emulate? Also, in a file like this, I think realism may depend on careful positioning of the camera - to crop out those spikes in the near right foreground for example. Would you like to expand on "realism"?
