Months and months (maybe years !!!) to learn how to use Terragen and now I have to learn all over again ... and practically without any support!
And also a question: in this forum no one knows the pdf format? !

rcallicotte

What?  Are you moving from TG1 to TG2?  If so, there are a lot of places for documentation here and elsewhere for TG2.

As for PDF documentation, it's not as prevalent here.  But, the documentation is still available.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Your post isn't really clear. This forum is an invaluable resource though and we are lucky to have some knowledgeable people who help out with answers as well.

There are some very good video tutorials on YouTube. Some of us have posted tutorials in the forum. There is also the WIKI, which is going to be expanded soon.

Hold tight. Things are coming along quickly now.

Ghehe...yeah, I would tend to say something like "welcome into the world of progress/development" :)

Now gentlemen, surely we can be a bit more understanding than that. :)

Yes claross, things are quite different. But it was necessary to change things significantly in order to achieve the huge leap in functionality and control that TG2 offers. You simply could not do the things that TG2 is capable of with the GC Classic user interface.

There are a lot of great learning resources around, and we're working on improvements to the official documentation, as well as better cataloging all the user-generated content out there. I recommend checking out the Wiki, which has some good tutorials and links to supplement the official documentation that is so far available.

All that being said, you may find that Terragen Classic is more to your liking. There's nothing say you can't keep using it if you prefer it.

I use Terragen Classic sometimes for trying out height fields. It renders much faster. The height field can be saved and used in Terragen 2.

I use the original Terragen all the time when setting up terrain for TG2.  It has a few very helpful features that ought to migrate to TG2.

As for the original post, "Months and months (maybe years !!!) to learn how to use Terragen and now I have to learn all over again ... and practically without any support!"    No you don't have to learn anything new, you're free to stay with the original and not use the new tools.

The only really difference I have noticed is the new atmosphere and cloud controls. The render speed also is much faster.

I have not been able to find the 'rule of thirds' gizmo (for lack of a better word). Does anyone know where it is?

The rule of thirds gizmo is built in to my eye:   "that looks like about a third..."

Thanks! I was looking for a button... The only buttons I found came off my shirt; I'm getting a middle age growth spurt. ::)
