Hi, I thought I would ask on this forum, since it looks busy and I am sure I will get good advice. (or replies that I am dreaming and such software is not available  :( )

I don't have any experience with creating worlds, but I would like to try it. I am more interested in creating a bit more realistic "living" big worlds rather than empty landscapes that look nice. Also, I am a bit more interested in "larger" scale (a more distant view), than a close up rendered scene. In other words, I am interested in software tool (or a combination of them) for creating world, with natural habitat, forests, rivers, roads, paths, bridges, perhaps even houses, but that is not necessary. If possible, something that is easy to use. I don't have any requirements for being able to export the world nor I intend commercial use.

I am interested to test software like Terragen, World Machine or World builder (there are probably many others?) but I am afraid that I would miss some important features and therefore make an uninformed decision against the program.

Try this site out. http://www.nwdanet.com/buy-packs/7-preset-packs/48-nvseal-planets-pack.html For a little money, you'll get a nice starting setup to see how these are done. The newest cloud pack helped me very much.
