When attempting to take a render with an orthographic camera, setting the "Ray Trace Everything" switch will force the render to use the camera's perspective setting.      Camera settings themselves don't change.

It seemed to render what was in my preview here...did you click the copy view to render camera[first button at the bottom of the 3D preview window] before rendering
