Here's another object I created with Groboto www.groboto.com this one is insanely complex or it would have been with a traditional modeller.  See my other post http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=13383.0 for a more detailed description of Groboto; no point in repeating myself.

A chain of events that it is not worth or desirable to follow in full led to my listening to the Queen soundtrack to the 1980 Flash Gordon film and the scene where the space ship emerges from the cloud come to mind. Minus the cheesy colours here's another Groboto object  emerging from the clouds.  Where as the rock stack is not brilliant but finished I want to keep on with this one.  I had a couple of tries and had to turn off the environmental lighting and use a fill light set up because the shadows in the clouds were too dark.  I have moved the sun and am rendering a new version.

I liked Flash Gordon when I was a kid, and I liked the adult-ish version 'Flesh Gordon' when I was older lol. The image looks cool Mr_Lamppost, are you going to animate the decent?
It has been eaten.

I hadn't thought about animating it but that's something to consider.

With the light at this angle I notice that the model is flat shaded but something that can be fixed.  :)

Groboto is really good for making these kinds of objects.  I've added some trees the give a sense of perspective, I had to fiddle a combination of enviro light for the objects and fill lights for the atmosphere. The trees are from Xfrog, I did shell out for the mega bundle so I may as well use them :)
