I was admiring the appearance of the sand in the second beach picture (the one further down in the thread) in this image share:

How does one displace the sand like that?
I was playing around with a surface layer, checking Apply Displacement, and experimenting with various values for Displacement Amplitude and with different settings on the Tweak Noise tab, but none of my efforts look remotely natural when rendered.[attachimg=1]

Looks like a very low octave ridged perlin powerfractal to me.

How exactly would I connect the powerfractal to my scene?
I'm rather new to TG2 (I do understand the basics pretty well).
