Looks pretty nice (for someone in this community)!

QuoteMore than 5-6 years of experience
this is the only part that troubles me. Even if I was as good with TG2 as some others here (which Im not), I doubt my application would get through their submission filters.
Even if I had the best demo in the world, I doubt that I could get their eyes on it.

I really hate applying for jobs on-line, its the worst! I read someplace that almost no one (statistically) gets hired from applying on line. I cant remember the news article to post, but it was saying that basically the software thats used to processes submissions is screwy (paraphrase ;) ) You have to write your submission nearly exactly like the filter software is made to read submissions. So even if you have everything they want, but don't word it the way the software is looking for, forget it.

Nonetheless, someone in this community needs to get that job! Obviously it will have to be someone who wants to live in LA.  :P

Go get em'

It seems they're pretty keen on having experience with other facets of the pipeline as well.

They'd like you to be proficient and experienced with TG<->Maya interaction and compositing in AE.
I guess/estimate or guesstimate ;) that only about a handful or two can do this with TG and at least 90% of these already do that for a living.

You can also see in the ad that they're more focussed on getting a Vue'er.
I'm afraid it's going to be a Vue'er anyway ;)

it would be cool if some TG user out there got this job, for planetsides sake.

other than TG i have some experience in after effects, i never went to school for it, i learned it working at my job.

The 5-6 years of experience is always bull.
This not only accounts for CG jobs, but for almost any job.
Ok, you don't apply for it if you're inexperienced of course, but what matters is what you can.
Hence their "can do" attitude they want you to have ;)

No serious, I have seen users here catching up with the software quickly and I have seen users here being active for 5-6 years and not being able of producing any single decent thing. So the last one could apply for this job, because he has (more) experience?

It looks like in terms of the Maya requirements, they just want you to be able to work with lights and cameras, and be able to make Maya models look good in TG2. That something just about anyone can do because you only need a level of understanding of maya close to what I have now, and thats not hard to have ;D.

Aftereffects, no problem for most people, its basically photoshop on steroids. And though they don't mention a need to know photoshop I am sure its expected. Everyone should have a general understanding of aftereffects if they want to work with moving pictures. Even if you prefer other software.

But also requiring Nuke? I hope they just want you to have a basic understanding so you can set up and move files through the pipe line.
But IF there going to expect a high level Nuke user with everything else, that seems a little crazy. Otherwise why not also ask for editing experience with the post?

The first line of the add is for Vue and terragen, I really believe that the rest of it is just their pipeline, and they want you to be able to already understand what they need in terms of how you output from the terrain software.

And as far as the Vue Vs. TG2 part. There are plenty of people here who can do work as good as ANY vue user, and more than a few who do work better than Any vue image I have seen.

I know their are people in this community who know the pipeline the add talks about. But the question is like Martin asked, do they already have a job? And do they want this one.

Really hope some one here try's for it and gets it. It would just be nice.

Of course, we all seem to be guessing that the add is for a place one would want to work. Who knows, they could pay crap and treat their people even worse. You just never know.

When your site is up, Martin, it will change everything.
