Texture size

I' m trying to create an earth model with textures from blue marble, but the largest texture I can use is 5000X2500 pixels. Larger textures won't work. Is it possible to use larger ones? Is there some hidden setting I missed?

On Windows machines, textures much larger than the one you have cause memory problems. On a Mac, you can use almost any sized texture - I used a 223MP one once.

Currently there are some memory issues in using larger textures that are not necessarily dependent on total or even available system memory. The image/texture handling functions will be made more efficient and robust in the future. In the meantime you may have to make do with lower resolution textures.
