The thin atmosphere creates a weird mood, as the depth is not really present. So the background areas look almost like plastic, as there is no transition from minor displacements and stones in the foreground to the back.
If you would add some large variations in the luminosity of the rock surface, you'd get that amount of depth back.
Else I would drift the camera a bit to the top left to create a more tense point of view.
