Agree one hundred %! Water is an issue though. ;)

Although during the monsoons Tempe floods. Which I quickly realized was the reason everything was built up on these little mounds. I remember being down by ASU at an apartment complex walking around with everyone else in near knee deep water. Everyone was in such good moods because of it.
It did not cause any damage.

These kids hooked a tow line to a big ass 4x4 and were trying to pull a guy on a body board. ;D it did not work too well. But it was fun as heck to watch. Just about everyone in the area came out to play.

The monsoons are really a special time of year there. Much more fun than trouble in my little experience. Although we all rented and would not really of cared about damage. Home owners may have a different view.

MY favorite places near the valley are the superstition mountains. Just loved taking day trips there! camped there at the lake once too. Such a great place!

I had an apartment for a while where I could see both sun devil stadium and four peaks perfectly from my back balcony. Great to sit there with a friend and have a beer and just stair out.

Oh, and slide rock was a great day trip too!

Do you know these places Bob?

If I ever do move back I would think I would like to live in the ahwatukee foothills. Back up in to the hills though, not really in the township.
Funny you mention Awatukee Foothills, that's where we live. Actually we're in the extreme southeast corner of Phoenix right next to the Gila Indian Reservation near 40th Street and Chandler Blvd. To the west are the newest and final development of what was once the International Harvester equipment test proving grounds ...beautiful area. Fact is Rod Stewart has a home there atop a small mesa.

Yes, I've been to many places in Arizona including 'Slide Rock' which is in the Oak Creek Canyon area. This is about 2 hours from my home and about 1/2 hour from Flagstaff. You could spend a lifetime in Arizona (and Utah) exploring and never be disappointed with the beauty of it all.

Yes, the Slide Rock area of Oak Creek Canyon is a short walking distance north of Sedona (you might want to Google Sedona -you might faint at the beauty). I've stayed overnight near Slide Rock. There are a number of very nice hiking trails here. Also, about 20 miles to the southwest is the town of Jerome - an old mining town which one may want to see while in this area.

These places seem to be made for Artists, Photographers; and, Terragengineers.

Hmmm I just Googled Sedona... :o Still cananot believe it...
U know I went around the planet 2.5 times if I count the miles and saw many places but I guess I will have to see your place one day... 8)

Great terrain, Bob. Should turn out perfect.

You'd have to pay me a stately sum to live there, though. Can't handle the heat and general lack of humidity. I guess I just like my four seasons too much :)

Love the sand ripples and composition!

When you do, springtime about mid February through early May is a great time for hiking.

Thank you. Nice thing here is that you go north about 2.5 hours and you're in Flagstaff; and, you will have your four seasons. Also northeast to east for about 4 hours and you are in high country where you will also get all seasons. Too cold while there ...only a short trip back where it is warm.

Here on the forum Home page, look at 'My Messages'. You should see it there.

gregtee

Hmm.  It's not there.  Last thing I got was about 2 weeks ago from someone else.  Try again?

Most of what I wanted to do with the terrain is finished; now, on to the vegetation.
