There are quite a lot of these white render artefacts(?), in the second
one even more than in the first.Any idea what's causing those?

Is it a terrain file or functional terrain? I've had small black (triangular) aretfacts using geotiffs with the default render node.  They went away after accepting the changes from the animation settings check.

River looks great.

Dune

I think it's too much displacement at those points, so you kind of look through the underside of the planet, and see a bit of sky in the faaaaar distance. It's procedural, by the way. I can see what happens if I treat it as animation...

j meyer

Displacement related was my guess also.Had them a few times before,
but not that stretched, that's why I asked.Maybe they are different now
with the voronoi added to the PF.

Dune

I did the animation test, so some settings changed and that helped indeed. I'm not too worried about it, as it's easily cloned out in PS. For animation that's different koek.

Cocateho

That rock detail is awesome! The river is well done too looks pretty realistic.

Dune

I keep changing the terrain and details, so here's yet another setup. With another title that's absolutely nonsense, as it started out as a Himalayan kind of landscape. Turned into a river close by again.

Good practice.  Nice image. Plane or ground? I like the subtle edges of the water in the fall.

Dune

I knew you were going to ask. So you don't really see it? Ground. But it would be much nicer if you have say a pebble river bottom and then use a plane over it. Not the case here's as it's flowing over smooth rock anyway.

By the way; colors to your taste? I have to pay more attention to not doing all browns...

mhaze

Much more like real rock Dune.  I suppose not living near mountains makes it difficult to reference them. Pictures are often "colourized" to such an extent that they are useless.

mhaze

I wasn't sure about the plane - you've made such a good job of it maybe a little too reflective.  Water that rough would usually be full of bubbles and not at all transparent.

Kadri

The river looks good Ulco. Curious is it a standard water shader regarding the transparency?
I always have trouble with transparency other then a standard lake or ocean kinda look with other objects in Terragen.

Dune

Thanks Bob. That was the idea indeed. Nice references, I may do another one like that.
But another one is boiling right now, ancient, deep carved out valley, with a little water remaining on the bottom (this time using a plane). A bit like in Jordan....
@Kadri: no a reflective shader, using the ground colors as base, very easy.
