This is the Texaco station that seems to be on every free site, this one had all it's textures, a barn I bought at rendo years ago;when I find the read me I'll update this with the vendor's name...ah ha tis Dark Anvil. The Corvette is I think from the DMI site, got it from my neighbour as we share our finds but that's where he likes to go. He supplied the low poly driver, better than none I s'pose...gotta learn DAZ for these situations I guess.
The station concrete is 'hand rolled' as is the road texture, the displace worked better on the concrete I think....except for the wee stones in it there really doesn't seem like much; and the dust is controlled with a Paint shader, coulda used a SSS like I did for the road but this seemed easier.
Oh yeah, the fence is from my Imagine3D days when I actually modeled and the vines are generated by our favorite vine app;

Great image, Bobby!! I especially like the barn model.
Some minor crits: the shadow of the gas pump is almost parallel to the station. If you'd change the sun's heading it may look a bit less "accurate".
And the dust could have some more definition and details. Then if you'd change the sun's heading to let's say two o' clock and check "receive shadows from surfaces" there might be some nice shadows in the dust cloud.
Just a suggestion...

Good suggestions Hannes. This was a Thanksgiving(Canadian)render...the Free Stuff I have to be thankful for, heh heh heh. Will give those a try but it'll be a while in seeing it. Without receive shadows from surface and more detail in the dust it was a 7:30 render so I'm guessing maybe 12 hrs with all that enabled. My computer is old and sick I think. Thanks for the input. It's all about making the better image.

Well Hannes, working on the dust atm but since the sun circle changed I haven't been able to sort out directions. By 2 o'clock did you mean with the sun between the barn and the Texaco, in his face; or from behind, over his shoulder?

Heh heh, while looking at the render I realized that those pump lights should properly be inbetween the pumps. Well all the concrete parts are one object but the light parts all move so I moved them to where they should be and saved the model. When I opened up the project today miraculously the lights are where they should be, and now I need to put your typical dirty rag barrel and a window washing station where they used to be. Sigh...still bashing on with tests and am having some good results. All crops for now but before I commit to a Final I'll post an image with all the tests in it. Taking some time out to build a squigee in Bryce unless anyone has one they'd like to share...I have a barrel, pail and small table for that island but must have a squigee.

O K, I've come to a point I like. The sun is more at 3 o'clock and every thing sorta squares up but if you overlay a 'golden rectangle' it adds up pretty nice. I do like the shadows in the dust at the butt end of the 'Vette, added some rye grass and some distant clouds in the mountainous area cuz I felt it needed that. 1280x720 render in progress...see y all tomorrow....LOL

I scaled it to the Texaco station...it's just an optional delusion yossam

Yeah, that's great. And it's exactly the 2 o' clock position in rrelation to the camera view that I meant.  :)

Here's the final render...thanks for all the input....made it the pic I wanted. I quite like the reflections in the windows of the shadowed building front...thought that worked out accidentally well.

Some really nice work you delivered there, Bobby. The reflections are great, the dust is great, everything works. But there's one thing I don't understand; if people want to gaz up, should they drive across the lawn to the pumps?

Thanks Ulco.....Yeah...the driveways got neglected solving the dust....grokking the fall off in the Cloud shader was a break point. Suppose I'll just have to do it again eh. I also want to throw some other grasses in to break up the sameness of the rye grass pop. I've made groups from Walli's grasses so I can overcome the 'free version inhibition' by planting 3 or 4 of those in strategic spots.
