This is an update to
http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,19864.0.html as a final that includes an adjustment to the sheep population correcting their directional orientation; and, the addition of dust along the path.
First, resetting the 'a' and 'b' to 0/0 did the trick of getting almost all the sheep heading in one direction (except those at the upper part of the curve). This had to be remedied by editing each instance in the uppermost part of the curve by rotational adjustments.
When first trying to get all the sheep heading in the right direction, the outcome yielded the result of them heading south instead of north. This was fixed by testing the suggestions of Yossum and Dune where resetting the 'object' Y rotation to 180. I set it to 160 and the flock changed from south to north properly. And, thanks to Dune for the suggestion of adding some dust in the path of the sheep.
Much appreciated Ulco and Richard.
