Great fun. We used to do it as kids, though with no ice. Our family reunion was at Lake LBJ along the Colorado River (not the famous one that formed the Grand Canyon). We'd send out bottle rockets under the water and watch the trail of smoke-layden bubbles until it popped. During the day you could see the fish jump out of the water to escape the detonation but at night it would light up the whole lake.
