Not sure about the black line, there is almost the same thing on the hill in the background. Off to investigate..............

Very nice mood set on this render, not to mention the great textures and shapes on the stones. It would be interesting to see the stones wet as if the storm had just passed by.

Changed the lighting...............I think the black areas were really ugly shadows. May be wrong, but they went away with the lighting change.

Everything would be wet, not just the stones. That would be a lot of reflections.................

The rocks are fantastic! One thing: did you use GISD? If so, the occlusion weight could be higher. It looks a bit flat.

Turned the occlusion to 2, changed sunlight just a smidge.
The plant is Lepidium Virginicum, peppergrass, pepperweed.
