Testing my new machine, I found it 'dead' while rendering a couple of hours. Hitting the start button did wake it up, and strangely TG was still running, though I suspect it was 'sleeping' as it was not much further than an hour before.
I did turn off hibernate through regedit, but perhaps that didn't do the trick, so now I also changed the settings in energy control to never turn monitor off and never shutdown. See if that helps....

Also, temperatures where around 60ºC before running TG, but as soon as it starts, they drop to 30-40. After the 'restart' they where around 60 again, and cpu usage was 8%, while before it was 100%. But that was perhaps due to the final stages/bucket of the render?

I guess it was the energy control settings. You said you turned the sleep mode off, so I assume it was on. I never checked how TG behaves, when that mode is on, because I always have it turned off.

If TG was still running, at least it is not a turn off because of overheat.
That's a good point.
Rendering drops the heat. With time you'll just have to clean sometimes the dust inside the PC.

Interesting problem. Temp goes down while rendering? Perhaps when TG start to render all idle fans kicks in?
On my render PC all sleeping/hybernate/screensaver crap is turned off. While rendering overnight I just turn off the screen.

So how is it now after turning of energy savings?

So far running, but I'm not running without doing stuff, so hard to tell. I'll do an overnight run soon.
Interestingly, temp is around 60 when idle, goes to 30-40 when rendering at 100% cpu use, then just before finishing (last buckets?) cpu use goes down to 8%, temperature rises to 50-60, and then when really almost done, there an increase in cpu usage again (probably cleaning up?), then a drop to zero.
I guess the fans are controlled by the amount of cpu usage.

I'll keep you posted.

Interesting.
Yes fans are controlled automatically. If there is no load they tend to spin very slow or even stop.(If you have more than one)
