Pyramid Texturing

I wanted to use the nifty pyramid function discussed here to do some stuff, but I come to find out that texturing it doesn't seem to work.

Is there a way I can derive a mask of each side of the pyramid to use as texture masks?

Also, I noticed this function has a bit of rough siding, is that due to my quality limitations or is it actually present?
