This image started with me exploring the .tgc's of artists who's work I admire and while in T U's attachments I found the simple but elegant file stairs so I loaded it and one thing led to another winding up with this mainly Simple Shape shader constructed scene. Thanks for the inspiration Martin.

That is quite an effective use of the Simple shape shaders.    :)

Thanks all, I thought it was a slice of pure brilliance using the Strata shader to make the steps and kicked my self for not sussing out such an obvious usage. I had tried image mapping stairs previously and only had limited success. Love this Forum.

That must be a first for the Strata and outcrops shader.    8)

Strata are really useful for this. I did a pyramid once (can't find it, though), using the steps of the strata shader and a square SSS.

Cool! Had to try this immediately.
(Hope you don`t mind that I post in your thread. Did not want to hijack this)

Heh heh, you would have...I recall some posts you helped me with at the start on TG2 that explained a lot.

Not a problem, I do this stuff to trigger exploration in others...here's a .tgc of the actual stairs. just insert it before the Compute terrain in the terrain editor

Interesting idea to put the fractal warp directly after a get position... I usually do it later in line.
