Hello guys,
I'm playing with TG 4 Beta 2. Nice play but i should want to have some answers about the program TG 4 in progress.

First, i found that RTP window sometimes is very slow (20-30 and more minutes) and some times is fast. I don't know the reason for this (or am i wrong?) but the quick render sometimes you pay with the slowness of the RTP (finished rendering). :(

Second, there should not be an update on the problem of spotlight? I have commented recently on this problem of the lightbeams grainy. :(
Honestly, I have to say that it has improved, very (with RTP), but I think it can still improve.

Third, Stupid question, but not for me: It would be possible to have an automatic update (check box) for the PW? I often forget to do so and i am obliged always to start again with the render, arghhh  >:(. I understand that for many of you seems a stupid matter but for me it would be useful. :-[

Last but not least, what's about Rainbows, Halos and similar optical effects (on post process) with TG4? A plugin maybe? Or another trick? :)

Have a nice day everywhere you are  :)
Claudio

Ps: I've seen new Clouds, Stratocumulus, Cirrocumulus, Altostratocumulus but Cumulonimbus not? A preset for this type not?

Clouds can be slow if you have multiple cloud layers. Lots of other things could cause slow render/preview times. If you have some scenes that are particularly slow, send them to us and we'll see if we can figure out why.

I'd like to improve the atmosphere/cloud sampling techniques for spot lights and local light sources. Maybe this will happen in 4.x.

If you mean for the post bloom and starburst effects, that's on our to-do list as well.

No specific plans for these things yet. But some resourceful users have done some of these things before and posted about them in this forum.

In the Beta, Altocumulus Castellanus is probably the closest preset. If you localise it and play with the settings you might be able to produce something like cumulonimbus. Maybe in combination with extra cloud layers.

Just because milk is white doesn't mean that clouds are made of milk.

Hello Matt,

Thanks for reply.

No, I mean for the button to click to update the Render camera on Preview Window every time you do a change in the render.

Is it possible to automate this option? With a check box or another option in the program?

Greetings.

It is not currently possible to automate the "update camera" button, but it is one of the more controversial design decisions we've made and it's something we will reconsider in the future.

Hi Oshyan,

Ok, i will wait, trying to take more care to update the render camera.
Regards.

I also from time to time forget to update the camera position but there are definitely times where you need to move the preview without changing the camera position.  Blender solves this issue with a simple "Lock Camera to View" check box; lets you quickly choose the behaviour you need.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.
