RAM filling up

Hi,

I'm producing a 360 animation and i'm using the function "crop to object" to only render the moving object. I can't unfortunately render all the frames (900) at once as my RAM is filling up a little after each render and can only render about 150 frames until TG crashes. (I'm actually rendering only a few 100s of pixels over my object).

Is there a fix for that? It doesn't happen when rendering an animation with full frames without cropping.

We are aware of some potential issues with not releasing certain memory after renders. That may be what you're experiencing. But it seems odd that it would be affected by crop rendering. Are you certain that it is *worse* with crop rendering on a per-frame basis, or is it possible that you're just able to render more frames in a shorter time, and so the issue shows up sooner?

One possibility for working around this would be to use an external render manager that calls Terragen from the commandline and thus restarts TG each time, clearing the memory automatically.

Hi Oshyan,

I actually don't know if the memory filling up would also happen with uncropped frames. TG still produces outputs even when the memory is full. It just becomes unstable and can crash but it is not systematic.

thanks for the tips.
