Inspired by Hannes post
http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,22727.0.html
I used the grains of sand that Hannes made but I had to disable the very high Translucancy since this effectively killed the sand grains ability to recieve shadows. Trees and veg by me and speedtree, figures by Daz.
Quite a lot of post processing, I wanted a filmic look but I've included the unprocessed version for comparrison.
cheers
Richard

Nice render Richard.
I like both images. I just think the postworked one is a little too dark on the ground regarding to the desert theme.

Cool Richard!!!!!
Yes, I can imagine, that the translucency is way too high, when the sunlight is directly from that position. It's great to see the grains in use!

I prefer the un post ed one myself but the post one has the feel you were aiming at. The original looks to me more photographic.

something Blue.

I prefer the unprocessed one too, but it's a matter of taste. The footprints are a nice addition.

Both very beautiful and somehow romatic!
I like them both. Very well done!

Beautiful composition. Realistic lens flare on post process. I tried an into the sun shot once and got such a flare. Good work on both!

Very nice. However, it's physically impossible for the lens flare streaks to be more sharply focused than the light source that's creating them, so that would be the thing I'd want to change next.

Is there a floating tuft on the right?

In retrospect I see some very thin white lines in the sky emanating from the sun. What are they?
