Screen size and scale.

Okay, so I have a decent sized monitor (24") with resolution set to 1920 x 1080, which looks really good for most things.  One thing that doesn't look so good is the size of Menu items and icons in most programs.  When I ran Windows 7 (10, now), everything seemed appropriately sized.  In order to get my menus and icons looking about the same size as when on Windows 7, I have to scale the size to 125%.  On my Windows tablet, this looks great, but smaller screen.  On my 24" monitor, menu items look a bit blurry.  I also tried downscaling the resolution of the monitor, in which everything look kind of blurry. 

I guess the question is: What settings / sizes do other people use, or does everyone just prefer teeny, tiny icons and menu items?

I have small icons and menu's to keep as much space open for working. By now I also know what icons are where, so I don't even have to be able to see them really

Hm, I don't know, I never changed any settings on my screen and I'm using MSI Apache lappie. Nothing was ever "blurry" with these default settings. Actually, it seems peculiar to me that anything on full HD resolution could get blurry... Small - yes. But not that other thing.

Now excuse me - off topic.

There is however a great difference in image file formats that renders are saved in. For some reason, I always changed the final output to .jpg files because I thought that this is the best quality to ever get! However, when I discovered that there are blurry (sic) bundles, much like eye floaters, forming around edges of objects and clouds I switched to other formats, .png being the best of them all. .png offers clearest, best quality and smoothest (is there even a word like this?!!) image quality there is.

I always save in tif 16bit then send to client for printing in 8bit. For web I use jpg, because png is heavier and Planetside wants to keep the forum within limits. But in a rather good compression/quality.

I'm hearing good things about both BPG and WEBP. They both provide better quality than JPG with a smaller size. BPG being based on HEVC might have patent issues but WEBP is open (and supports alpha transparency) with native Firefox, etc decoding coming soon and third party plugins for Photoshop in development.

After the Betamax/VHS wars are over will the winner see support in Terragen? JPG is antediluvian now.

We just have to wait and see, I suppose. For now it's jpg and tif.

So you have two seperate computer systems? One is a windows  tablet and the other is a regular windows PC?   Or is the 24" monitor plugged into the windows tablet?

Yes, 2 separate systems.  1 tablet running win 8 and a PC running win 10.  My guess is that the 24" screen is stretching certain texts causing the blurriness because my scale is set to 125% (on this monitor at this resolution, I find 100% is just too small and strains the eyes)

Pretty sure I just have to work around it at this point...
