Trying out textures here. WIP  I see I will have to add toenails on the feet.
Left elephant is PF and object default gray run through a merge.
Right elephant is image texture.
Free skin texture if ya want it.

You should reduce the texture size and lighten up the Phants, give them some soft reflectivity, a pf to color vary them, add a vague pf to tusks as well.

luvsmuzik

Thanks guys! I added the link for the free obj.^^^^

@Dune Yes, I am experimenting on the textures and lighting. The brownish phant already has a PF with a merge and I am trying different mix methods as the hide is nowhere near smooth on an elephant. ;D I have to figure out on what side of the merge to put the reflective, but I know what you mean by that.

Dune

You can even add clumps of dried or wet mud by pf with a little ingenuity.

Yep! You should see some of my test by using mix altitude highest and lowest :) Yes, I am trying every option, because I am used to Blender nodes.

Here is a shady render with yellow sun at 7 Katsura tree (no, I do not know if elephants eat those leaves) To do: scale gray phant texture.

Interesting project.
I like the shadows of the trees on that elephant.

Coming along nicely, I suspect those Pachyderm would benefit from some added GI...

Thanks all...taking all hints...
Still a WIP

Put the PF from Hannes' scrambled eggs set up (minus reflective and made appropriate color changes) to the elephant on the right.

Sun is only at 4 here so...next time I may try some fancy rays.

more GI and Sun please, durn near black elephants on my monitor

hee hee...just when I was trying to fade into the soft shadow effect... ;D

Agree with Bobby about the lack of GI, may I suggest increasing the exposure a bit (That will help bigtime) The leaves of the trees transparency need a bit of tweaking as well. Good looking scene thou. I look forward to seeing it again if you are still working it

Thanks bobby and Danny.

Yes, I'm still working on it and a few others :)
I do see the problem with the leaves too. I will work on that.
Left elephant PF merge with mix low altitude on the muddy look.
Right elephant is still scrambled eggs tgc (colors changed) merge with texture.

DocCharly65

Great improvements! Very nice light!

Dune

Echo, well done on the phants. Now the ground needs some more work. And the back trees have a very carpet like canopy, IMHO, XFrog might have some free African trees that you can use instead.
