Here is a cavelike place I more or less stumbled across:

Still a lot to do, but I think the general setting ist interesting.

Looks interesting but can we have a little light please? Even on my LCD it as almost too dark to see anything.

A bit dark, like Mr. Lamppost said. But, keep on it. From what I
can
see, it looks promising. This is the stage where it might be easy to give up. Keep chugging.
So this is Disney World. Can we live here?

I can see it just fine (horray for LED backlight!) and it looks great. A little more light would be nice, but the stalactites are fantastic.

If you download the jpg, and increase gamma in an image editor, you will see a beatiful cave.

Ok,
I´ve just seen it on a friends flatscreen, now I know why you call it dark.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1238/1471441027_618b658fba_o.jpg
I´m still working on the textures and the water surface.
Thought about caustics but they didn´t come out nice enough yet.
will post a brighter version when I´m content with the details.
Thanks and regards,
Jan

I agree that it would be easy to give up but keep at it. This has potential to be amazing.

Ok,
I adjusted my monitor a bit to the dark side-
and the image a bit to the brighter.
If it´s still to dark for you, please simply push the little button on your monitors.
That´s my latest version:

Open for critique and comment!
There is a gap in the ceiling and the stalactites where cut of in the middle of the pic, had to crop and paste them.

Very well done! These are some of the most realistic stalagmites/tites that I have seen TG2 make thus far.

Looking good, I've been in places that look not a lot different.

These look about right for cave illumination in fact the further you go form the cave mouth the illumination level drops proportionately with distance so that once your deep inside the cave it is completely black without artificial illumination: in the so called "Dark Zone" of wild caves live creatures that are adapted to life in complete darkness they are albino and completely blind.
Good work.
Regards to you.

Thanks to all of you.
The Image wasn´t supposed to be called "Unilluminated Cave at night",
There is one lightsource round the right corner and one behind the camera.
so I hope you see a bit more than in the first version.
Maybe my monitor is still a bit on the bright side.
Best Regards,
Jan

This just looks better and better, keep up the good work
Just an idea but for the final version how about using a visible artificial light source to illuminate the scene? Figure holding a lamp or the like; just a thought.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.
