I know how PT works. It's amazing!  :-*
I almost always use it now and the difference in this scene is actually night and day, but I'm not entirely sure what RTE does and how these two work together. Are the any benefits or something I should know about? Or is it what you just said? "obvious in vegetation in shadows"

The shadow differences would be due to PT, not RTE. I mentioned them because if PT was *not* working with RTE on you would notice it looking less good in the shadow areas. There is generally no advantage to using RTE, it is almost always slower. It exists primarily for troubleshooting and a few rare cases where it happens to actually work better. But again that's rare.

The issue is in the Grass surface layer, specifically the Better Colour/Shade Continuity on the Effects tab. We'll investigate what's causing it and hopefully find a fix, in the meantime if you disable that it should avoid the errors.
