Is a Terragen 2 render always this CPU-intensive?

Hey guys,

I am experimenting with doing a render of a custom scene I've created in TERRAGEN 2.     I notice that,   during a render,   TERRAGEN's draw upon my CPU is crazy-intensive,    hovering for a long while in the 95%--96%  CPU usage as reported in my Windows 10 Task Manager.

On a couple of occasions,   this intensive draw has pretty much crashed my computer's resources,  or at least prevented me from running other computer tasks concurrently (like listening to an online radio feed,  simultaneously).     Are there any "tricks" or workarounds to prevent TERRAGEN from totally commandeering my computer's resources?

Thanks in advance,     rasputin

In TG4 you can set how many threads TG can use. Not sure if this option exist in TG2.
But look under Render Tab/Advanced/Maximum threads.

Yes, that is completely normal CPU usage for almost any rendering application. It is a very CPU-intensive process.

If you *generally* want Terragen to use fewer resources (which will mean slower renders), then it is better to set this in *Preferences*, rather than in the Render Node.
