First true attempt trying out Terragen 2 (after a few times just messing around in it trying to figure out how to do everything I would need to learn between the original version)...

This is the jpg version that I've saved at 8 quality in Photoshop, I have one saved at 12 for a slightly better quality on my deviant art: http://neuspadrin.deviantart.com/art/Riverbed-69232636

Took forever to render since I didn't realize until browsing these forums for awhile that I could split the image into 4 pieces and have each of my cores take on a piece (that would've probably shaved what, 4 days off this thing at least).  Definitely doing that next time.  Currently working on a new piece now with a focus on playing with clouds and learning how to do interesting effects with them.

I like the grass....stones could use some color and size varaition.....the trees look ok....and background could use some work...

add water transparency (search forums for fake transparent water) to enhance the image more...

nice work overall

and welcome to forums...:)

I like your river.  That's nice work.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Good for a first full effort, but I agree with the other comments. It needs something extra to provide depth and more texture. It looks very flat at the moment. keep up the good work though.

Welcome to the club.... heh.
Your scene setup is very, very good, but I have some suggestions for you:

Sun position: I would have changed it so the light is shining from one of the sides. I know this may not make any sense at all and look more like a personal taste, but I know it's very hard to get good results with this type of lightning.

Background mountains: They need some work on the textures. But I also think that another sun position would make them look a lot better. (More shadows and stuff like that).

Grass and stones: Need some work on the textures to give more variation like said earlier.

I hope you don't think that I don't like it, but if you gave this a try I would love to see a update cause I think this one has some great potential.
Like I said: the scene setup is very good. I like it very much. Good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions,

I dunno if I'll work on this one more and re-render.  Perhaps one day down the road... Right now I'm trying to just hit everything I can in Terragen 2 and get a hang of how to do it.  Right now I'm trying a scene involving a cave and some transparent water and such to get some difficult terrain and tricks down ;).
