It'd be cool if the Timeline had a graph of shaders with keying in use, and along the timeline "blips" that could be used as shortcuts to the shader, and tab (and frame), that keying coincides with for quick editing.

It would at least make animation management a little better than just a frame number on a slider and navigating a large network.

Maybe the lines the "blips" sit on could be colour coded with the shader groups they represent. Terrain (green), Shaders (Red), Objects (Gray), functions (Blue), etc

Seems like something one would implement in the very begining of software development. That's a good idea. A timeline with shader names, not unlike the DaVinci Resolve workspace where you can place clips and see where they begin or end.
"This year - a factory of semiconductors. Next year - a factory of whole conductors!"
