Over the weekend, I have been thinking how fun it could be if something like XFrog was made. But for animals.

You need a Red Fox? No problem, here it is in three variations - sleeping, walking, hunting. How about an orangutang? Available as well - eating, hanging off a tree, sitting.

Would probably cost four times as much. ::) But an interesting though anyway.

:D  Interesting thought, the name is established yet ;D  I did use XFrog to make houses before I got LW.

I remember you did. I think XFrog is, in fact, enough for making simple huts etc. ;)

Maybe the fauna company should be named "XFox" instead? ;) Modeling living things, to me, seems quite complicated still. Adding animals could really liven up some images, just like trees do.

The most tedious being texturing, as it's hard to find decent photo's of animals of all sides.

I'd imagine like Xfrog and stuff aside from catalogs of assets textures and such are up to the creators. Much like the free plant creators with no assets to even try.

I think it would actually be possible to create much of the textures procedurally. At least for those animals that have a relatively uniform fur / skin. I might be wrong of course. Doing textures for birds though, would be a nightmare either way. ;D

Just like DAZ Studio which lures you with a webpage, packed full with beautiful imagery of hot female heroines and ork porn. By the time you finish reading about the product, you can barely hold your piss not to go ahead and download the software. And once you do, all you get is four figures, a set of colourful underwear and sluice-gate content prices that even some film studios find too expensive. (Sorry for a graphic description.)
