I wanted to add some alien plant life to my derelict scene so I tried to make some. Though I have been fighting TreeIt this entire time, crashes, bad exports, etc. For example, sometimes, the geometry comes out broken and breaks lighting, and not sure why. Other times it will export with zero foliage for no reason. Also when you clump leafs, and your scale is too high, they get offsetted and there is no way to offset individual branch clumps that i can find.

The only texture used here is a leaf texture, but it's than turned grayscale and shaded with Terragen. Same for the trunks. Transparency is at 1 for the living leaves, and this is a extreme lighting PT, but they don't seem to have any real noticeable light transmission. I can see Fresnel reflecting the sky, about it. Shadows are very dark even a prong in.

I tried it for 10 minutes and got 3 crashes.
But still looks like an interesting (and free) to use program to make decent foliage.

Yeah it crashes more than any software I've used. And top of crashes within scope of sliders, if you enter in wrong settings it will mostly crash too.

My biggest gripe is it has a real hard time populating foliage. Max of 300 per layer, and if you have too many layers, none will export. And I can't seem to uniformly produce any leaves like let's say on either side of the procedural branches or brachlets. I guess that's where making a mesh comes in handy and importing but just seems odd

In summary, normal leaf and pine trees with realistic densities doesn't seem possible.

Likewise here. I've destroyed a few brain cells trying to get something decent. Too bad, I kind of like the UI.
