Hi all, what is the actual situation with Terragen and the render properties?
What can the Pro Edition do more than the Creative version? Are there differences in the image generation or in the render output?
I mean is the photorealism more given in the Pro version? What sacrifices do I have to make?
I have already looked through the comparison list but it does not help when it comes to the quality of the render output.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your question about rendering in Terragen 4 Creative vs. Terragen 4 Professional.

There is no difference in terms of render quality between the two versions.  Terragen 4 Creative's output is limited 5000 x 5000 pixels for still images, and 1920 x 1080 for animation sequences.  These limitations are removed in the Professional version.

Terragen 4 Professional gives you access to the Render Layers feature, which allows you to isolate and render groups of objects and lights as well as save the individual elements as separate frames, for example the terrain, atmosphere, or clouds.  These elements can be saved in the EXR format and recombined in a 2D compositing package to recreate the beauty pass.  Below are two links if you'd like to know more about Render layers and compositing the rendered elements.

Terragen 4 Professional also allows you to have 3D camera motion blur, and the ability to deform object geometry.
