New Erie Canal scene, set in the summer of 1824. This is the crossing across the Seneca River in central New York. This was a "slackwater crossing," meaning the boats were locked down into the river and then towed across. The bridge was for the animal teams providing the power. Not an ideal solution, and low water caused a lot of traffic jams.

Wow, this is superb! Very tranguil scene, and very photographic too. The simplicity, with the haze obscuring distance here and there, makes it very powerfull.

Agree with Ulco. Beautiful scene. Calm and peaceful.

Thank you! I've been wanting to do an early morning sunrise scene for a long time.
