20k skydome renders hanging or not finishing

hello, having a problem when rendering skydomes above 20k pixels, even on low settings. it looks like it finished rendering (no boxes). its hanging, the timer stopped, but it still wont finish. Any help on this would be great

How much ram do you have?

I think some image effects are done separately (like in a new layer in PS) and then composited back with the original render result. So if you're reaching near max RAM with the render itself, there likely isn't enough to do the GISD or other image effects.

As far as I am aware, a lossless image of that size in memory would be rather large + any lossless compositions of effects.

my machine has 128gb ram and 24 cores, don't think it could be the problem. I render 16bit exr, but 20k isn't that extreme so its odd.

I will try again without any effects, though it was just at default

You should have plenty of RAM in that case. Interesting. Yeah, I'd at least try to narrow it down to image effects or GISD.

WAS, Didn't I have this issue awhile back, and figured out it had something to do with GI Surface Details being on?

Try turning off GISD and see if it finishes.

I think you are right. It was related to GISD.
