So, tried logging into Discord server again. This time I got initial login, then got message it wanted my Terragen login (again)  to get started.
Wasn't quite sure about that.
Can anyone please advise if this is how Discord is  really supposed to work?
Thanks!

It appears to be so, for whatever reason. You can see why if you click that question, but I didn't bother.

The Discord server isn't connected to this forum, or the Planetside website, so it won't ever ask for those logins.

After you sign up and log in to the main Discord app, you can then join individual communities or servers, of which the Terragen Discord is one.  The individual servers can have their own user verification process to keep out spammers, and in the case of the Terragen Discord it's cranked up pretty high (as a knee jerk reaction to how much spam this forum used to get).  After joining the server, you click the verification button, which takes you to a website to complete a captcha, and then gives you full access to the server.  If I remember correctly I think the captcha website asks to connect to Discord during that process as well.

It's kind of a pain the first time, but you should only have to verify once.

Actually, looking at the list of users on the Discord server, there are five separate masonspappy accounts, so that's odd...

I just manually verified all five of them, so hopefully at least one of them works!

Discord didn't ask for a Planetside login, but did want to change to a users name and number (as it would supposedly be better to share this name), and it suggested (in my case) Dune, something (which i changed).

Oh, yeah, that's a separate thing.   Discord recently changed how they do usernames across the entire service:  https://discord.com/blog/usernames

As you can imagine, many users were displeased:  https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-65483184

Got further but not making sense of this:
Trying to add Captcha . But the only server in the drop down is NOT Terragen.  ANyone got any ideas?

(Sorry to be so persnickety about this.  But after I was told that my Security clearance interviews with the FBI, my fingerprints, my family information , and just about every other personal item you can think of was stolen by Chinese Army hackers in the OMB hack a few years ago,  I get pissy about these things. )

We should probably use Element or something more geared at development and software communities, also far better privacy and security. Discord may be branching out but is still full of gimmicks, and stupid Nitro advertising and stuff.

Hmm, like I said, I manually changed all five masonspappy accounts in the Terragen Discrod to verified, so if you're using one of those accounts you shouldn't need to do the Captcha anymore, and you should have access to all the server channels.   Unless you're still working on logging into Discord itself?  I'm a little confused.  PM me if you're still having problems and I can try to walk you through it.

I'm not opposed to branching out, but the paid-per-user aspect would probably be a sticking point: https://element.io/pricing.  Maybe there's other alternatives though.  I do agree Discord has evolved into rather an unusual platform over the years.  Setting something up there was mainly driven by people asking "Where's the Terragen Discord?"

It's free. ComfyUI uses it with hundreds of users. I think that's for other stuff they do on the Matrix server side stuff (their decentralized infrastructure system). I think you can allow more features with a plan, like privacy servers for data. Cause otherwise you can edit stuff like your email or phone number on a server cause it doesn't have the server backend so won't let you. Probably just for stuff like that, and expanding it with like bots.

Also been zero spam in the channels I am in.

So I tried getting into DISCORD yet again.  I get a message that there was something unusual about my signon, and the system wants to validate me - then it asks for my email and password.  I put in my discord id (masonspappy) and password, then it tells me that userid is already registered.

I just checked the discord server, and now there are six separate users registered named masonspappy.  Are you creating a new account every time you try to log in?  I'm confused...sorry... :(

masonspappy

I think I'm the one who's confused, but I finally got in and saw some Terragen-related threads.
Thanks for the help aknight0!

Did you register with 2FA (two factor authentication) if so you need to authenticator app to save your codes to login or you'll be forever locked out like my first discord account. I never enable 2FA. Absolute BS. So many codes lost cause they don't migrate with your phones that may break or not have access to.
