Not my best work in terms of terrain, and populations, the grass I used looks too jagged and the colour shaders are in rough shape, but I like how it looks with a high-magnitude threshold version of a night skymap made using NASA photographs and data. Maybe I ought to use a 16K version of the map since 8K looks a bit blurry on the large background. Easy job, to be honest, just one image map with a spherical layout. Yall already have experience with the software and probably know of better techniques, but here's the link anyway: https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/4451/

A nice starter for the beginning... go with it, there so much more you can do!

I have used these star maps very often.
But as mentioned, use a new set. These here are high res and updated!

Thank you for the info, but can Terragen 4 use an .exr format for the higher-resolution photos? Or do I have to export the .exr through photoshop into .tiff?

Kevin Kipper

Terragen can load EXR formatted images.

Alright, that's perfect, thank you.
