Its been a while since I've posted an image, that dose not mean however that I have not been using TG2 and this is some thing that I did last week. Render time if I recall was 7hrs 46 minutes and 46 seconds and it was only after I looked at the image in Photoshop the next day that I realized that the shadows where slightly noisy but I don't think its to bad! My computer was quite hot after rendering and it was gone midnight when the render was compleated so there wasn't time to save the TGD but if I recall the effect I have here was the result of using a Cloud Fractal Shader (Create Shader > Color Shader > Cloud Fractal Shader v3) I have tried this since but have been unable to replicate the effect, there are only two Surface Layers and the Base Shader here, plus the Twist and Shear and Strata and Outcrops Shader.

Regards to you.

I like the color distribution on this one....although what did you use cloud fractal shader for???
"His blood-terragen level is 99.99%...he is definitely drunk on Terragen!"

I was experimenting and added the Cloud Fractal Shader which I think was the last shader I used and when I did so I got the color distribution in the image, Like I said I have since tried to replicate the effect but have not had any success.

I really can not remember more about what I did than that, I wish I did but thats the way of things and all that.

Regards to you.

Like your colors.  Would have liked a little more variety with the strata.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Since I only know a limited amount about TG2 and you know far more then I could you impart please a little knowledge in that regrade and I shall attempt to use what I learn in future work?

I haven't much direct experience with strata in the real world and am not really in the position geographically due to distance to visit real world landforms with strata in them and though I have used Goggle Images in the past to look at images for research when I work I have to go off memory and use what limited knowledge I have of working with TG2, I have been told that this image looks like parts of Syria by an individual who has been to that part of the world, any advice you or others could give to help would be helpful!

Regards to you.

This would be a good place to start - http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=1980.0

Seth has a good handle on this.

I'm still learning, but what I've found is that I experiment with the knowledge given to us in this tutorial - http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=974

This is a very nice image. I'm not that fond of the red/brownish surfacelayer but for the rest the colors look really fine.
Cool rockstructures and nice strata, especially on the overhangs. Good settings!

I also suggest to break them up using a powerfractal as blendshader on your stratashader.
First I'd check the powerfractals distribution on the terrain, you can do this by using the powerfractal either as a childlayer of a surfacelayer or as a surfacelayer itself. Increase contrast and play with scalesettings. When they look fine then just simply use that powerfractal as blendshader for your strata.
Maybe you already know all of this, but if you don't you won't have to wait for me to explain ;D

The rock structures on the very bottom on the image have some texture/displacement (not sure) opposite to the strata. I think they look really cool! :)

Thank you Tangled-Universe I didn't know some of what you said...some I did but needed to here it from some one else. The Red/ Brownish  surface layers are meant to be Iron-Ore deposits (Thats my story and I'm sticking to it  ;D).

Regards to you.

Ah well, I can certainly live with that idea :)
