I know that when "Transparency" comes out this technique will be obsolete (And I hope it is.), but here is another project that has faux transparency. The main reason for the image is to explore the viablity of my new lily pad model for close up rendering. I think it will do ok, as a result this scene has started to take on a life of it's own and I am starting like what I see. I have done nothing to the back ground or sky so stay tuned. I will also be adding more bank plants and grass.

Hey!!! You got a very good result here!! How did You manage to get the light refraction seen under the water surface?!?
It makes everything get blurred, was It post-work???

I took the he first image that I rendered (with no water) and put a ripple filter on it before using it in the final render.

Hey, everything looks about right.  Nice and mucky looking.  Good start.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

yea but the ripples look nice.
The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

They can go either way depends on the variety. The one I did the modeling from went down. I have since made a model that also goes up and will post both on Ashunder soon.

Yes I used an image mask and a displacement shader set to a negative value. It gives you great control over the shape of the pond. I have however found that the Fake Stone shader does odd things sometimes where the two overlap, not all the time though. ???
