Well, those "clouds" were going to be dust storms but they came out looking pretty bad (I think). I am going to re-render this one without them and leave the planet as the main focus because I do like how the colors and the surfacing came out. I think it might work better that way. But it will have to wait until the next coriolis test is done tomorrow.

This is cool.  I had to look this time to make sure it was you and not a reference.   8)
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Dust storms are usually very wispy and soft edged. I suggest decreasing edge sharpness and increasing warp if you want to achieve some nice-looking dust storms. Otherwise looks very good, and I do think it would look a bit plain (albeit still nicely done) without the clouds/dust.

The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

I will probably take one more shot at the dust storms. I did add a small space rock for some added interest.

none the less....looks cool...

Version 2. I might take the roid out. I think it is a little distracting from the rest of the image.

The planet is very, very good.  The dust storms need a color to make them stand out a tad and also need some swirl.

I agree, I'll work on fixing that later today. I think I'll take the asteroid out (although I think this scene would look really good if I could get a good astroid belt going).

Last one. This one I'm pretty happy with. I just wish the TG 2 planet populations would render.

Love the dust storms and the planet.  I want to learn this thing you do...dude.    ;D

Excellent results on the dust storms! The asteriods are cool, but a bit spiky and distracting. I'd love to see an animated dive to the planet and into a dust storm...

I agree with Oshyan about the asteroids....the storms are cool...but  I would love to see them on a bit larger scale...

Try messing around with this file, just import your own image mask and/or rock object, move the camera around and go to town. I'm doing a gas giant right now and this works great for the rings so it should be able to do a good asteroid belt as well.
