Animation - Evolving Terrain
January 06, 2007, 09:11:57 AM
Hello,
Was wondering.. has anybody created any TG2 animations yet (in addition to the Planetside ones)?
I'd love to see an evolving terrain for example.

I'm working on an animation as a project outside Planetside. I'd say it should be available within a month or so. I'd love to see other people's animation efforts as well. Animation has always been one of my favorite aspects of TG and yet it's so underutilized.
There are a lot of ways to get an "evolving terrain". You could simply animate the parameters of a procedural terrain function for the simplest approach. You could also use a Merge Shader to mix multiple heightfields or procedurals and animate the mix percentages - this would give you a "TerMorph" type of effect.
