Objects window lacking slider box

In the earlier versions there was this slider where you could set the number of variations (don't recall how it was actually called).
In the new version this slider is gone. Why? Was this done on purpose or is it simply missing?

The real function behind the slider was never actually implemented, so it did nothing, so they removed it until it would really work.
