My first attempt at a flowing river, partially successful.  ;D

Trees from lightning, grass from Klas, and foam an adaptation of the surf techniques by FrankB.

Thanks for any comments and suggestions!

The sense of a flowing river is very nicely done, great work on that streaming surf.
I think the water self is a bit too clear and the transparency looks almost white.
I'd like to see some volume density and color.
The round fake stones near the water on the left and beneath the watersurface are nicely displaced. The spiky ones seem to point into the same direction (twist and shear?).
I think if you improve the displacements of the spiky stones and make them look more realistic and to add some bumpy detail in the soil beneath the stones the image will look lot more better.
The background looks very good and quite natural so I think improving the water and stones will greatly improve it.

I realize this work took time and it has some cool elements, like the background trees and the landscape, which look pretty good.  Almost like a painting.  The foam looks unrealistic as does the measure of transparency.  It doesn't look like water, really.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

I agree, the background is nice but the water needs work.  The distribution of the foam needs more variety and I definitely don't go for the spiky stones.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

Thanks for the suggestions, I definitely agree that it needs quite a bit more work.  Proving quite difficult to get the surf flowing like a river should.  Updates to follow... eventually!
