i will put some vegetation under the trees, add another surface layer to change the colour of the sand where it meets water, try some light stuff and all...
but here is basically the first wip ^^

Cool WIP, when you'll finish it, it will be a very good work! And now it is a very good start  ;D ;)
I suggest to add a bit of foam.

Why not? There's pollution all over the planet ;) :P

Serious, I think the image would do better without foam, because it is not a shore for example...
Like Nikita said elsewhere I think you should add translucency and also some specularity to the palm's leaves.
They would especially benefit the most from translucency.
You could indeed desaturate the sand-colors a tad, but not too much, and the displacementscale is almost perfect. I wouldn't lower that too much in my opinion.
The water looks really great. Great patches of transparency and I really like the highlights!

Good job so far, I think the hardest task is to find nice vegetation for under the trees!
