Monitor Calibration Hardware and Software

Does anyone have any experience using a cheap hardware based monitor calibration solution? Something like the Spyder 3 system, or around there in price anyway. Looking for any recommendations I can get to calibrate my new LCD monitor as it is a complete mess right now

If you're using an nVidia video card, it's got a pretty decent calibration program you can get to through the nVidia Control Panel. I'd assume that the ATi cards would have something similar as well.

Hi
I use the Pantone Huey Pro
http://www.shop-com.co.uk/Pantone_Huey_Pro-54436313-69496553-p!.shtml?sourceid=309
. I think its about £100, though it may be cheaper now cause I bought it when it was brand spanking new. Works like a dream for me (and I run dual monitors, different models) and it continuously adjusts the monitors to changing room light conditions (not that I need that much, I always have my blackout blinds down in the office
) I know the spyder 3 is very good and there are a couple of other good ones, though you start talking in the £300 upwards bracket then.

I've been using Spyder2 for a few years now. However I still use a 19" CRT Trinitron monitor and not a LCD. Here's a page showing how it works.
